Like many types of injuries, head injuries have their own unique set of symptoms and time frames for when an injury victim starts to notice them. If you have suffered a skull fracture, you may experience a traumatic brain injury (TBI) and although the bone may heal, the symptoms of the TBI can remain for the rest of your life. If you have been injured due to the reckless or negligent actions of another, you want an experienced League City skull fracture lawyer.

Experienced Representation for Victims of Traumatic Brain Injuries

Texas attorney Trey Apffel has handled numerous TBI personal injury cases over his 30 year career and has the experience necessary to obtain the medical care and compensation you deserve. Traumatic brain injuries are the result of a jolt, violent blow to the head causing the brain to collide with the inside of the skull. The effect the injury has on brain function is termed mild, moderate or severe; however, all three require prompt medical attention and an accurate diagnosis.

Mild, Moderate and Severe Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI)

There is a wide range of physical and psychological effects involved in any traumatic brain injury and some of the symptoms may appear immediately following an accident while others could appear days or weeks later. Concussion symptoms may linger and lead to what is called post-concussion syndrome which includes chronic or persistent headaches.

In cases of mild traumatic brain injuries, there is a temporary dysfunction of the brain cells. These injuries include a multitude of symptoms similar to more serious or severe brain injuries such as dizziness, loss of balance, sensory problems with vision, hearing and taste and memory loss, or problems with concentration.

Moderate to severe TBIs can include many of the signs and symptoms of a mild injury and could appear within hours or days following the injury. These symptoms may include loss of consciousness for a few minutes to hours, slurred speech, profound confusion, unusual behavior like aggressiveness or agitation and convulsions or seizures. More serious traumatic brain injuries may include bruising or torn tissues, bleeding and other physical damage to the brain with long-term complications or death.
