Strollers recalled due to possible defect

When people purchase items, it is usually assumed that those products are safe and will work as intended. There are instances, however, when the products have defects or problems that can cause safety issues. Galveston County residents may be interested to learn about a stroller company that is recalling a potentially defective product.

Bugaboo, a manufacturer of pricey baby strollers, has issued a recall of Bugaboo Donkey and Bugaboo Cameleon strollers. Both models have detachable infant seats, which is where the defective component is located. The company received 48 reports of detaching carrier handles, but no injuries were noted. The recall affects approximately 46,300 strollers, according to reports.

The Bugaboo Donkey was sold between January 2011 and December 2012 for $1,200 to $1,600, and the Bugaboo Cameleon was sold from September 2009 through June 2012 for $980. Both were available online from the company's website, as well as from baby product retailers like Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom and Toys "R" Us.

Bugaboo is advising consumers to remove the carry handle from affected models and to contact the company for a replacement. The company notes that the stroller can be used while waiting for the replacement handle to arrive.

Defective products, and especially defective baby products, can cause serious injuries. People who have suffered any injury, regardless of the severity, from a dangerous product should seek information about possible compensation for those injuries.
