Driver charged with DWI after 4-vehicle wreck injures 8

It may seem obvious to say, but it bears repeating: drunk drivers are far more likely to cause an accident than drivers who are sober. An auto accident that results from drunk driving can cause immense pain and suffering for victims. Those who are hurt through no fault of their own in such an crash are legally entitled to seek compensation from any at-fault parties.

Galveston readers might be interested in a recent accident involving an alleged drunk driver in Blanco County. A 44-year-old man was arrested after he reportedly caused a four-vehicle collision on Jan. 18.

According to reports, he was traveling west on a state highway in a Dodge pickup when he crashed into a Jeep Liberty. The pickup then went across the center line into oncoming traffic in an eastbound lane, where the truck hit two more vehicles before going off the road. The driver of the pickup and seven others were sent to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators say that the pickup driver was operating his vehicle while intoxicated. He was arrested and charged with DWI. If the injuries suffered by the victims meet the criteria for intoxication assault, the man may face heightened charges.

Aside from having to deal with injuries, innocent victims of accidents may also face financial problems due to medical expenses or loss of income. Personal injury claims for compensation can help to ease the injured parties' financial burdens and give them the peace of mind they need to recover as quickly as possible.
