Texas accident leaves three dead

A car accident that took place at the intersection of Belterra Drive and U.S. 290 near Dripping Springs left three truck passengers dead. The collision occurred at about 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 13. Officers say a Honda Accord made a turn at a yellow light and hit a truck that was heading east.

The driver of the Accord was reported to be okay following the accident. There were no other passengers in the Accord. No criminal charges have been filed against the driver. The driver of the truck was taken to the hospital. Although the driver is expected to survive, it is reported that his leg will most likely need to be amputated. The three passengers in the truck died on impact.

A witness, driving by the scene before police or ambulances arrived, told news reporters that she was overwhelmed by how many good Samaritans rushed over to help. The individuals included a couple men who began directing traffic around the accident. The witness also pointed out that although the road has a lot of traffic signals, the speed limit at the intersection is 65 miles per hour. At an intersection where the speed limit is high, drivers may have a harder time braking in time for the traffic lights or to avoid an obstruction in the roadway.

A driver who is at fault in a car crash and ends up hurting or killing other drivers or passengers may be liable for the injuries caused. A personal injury attorney may be able to help the victims file a lawsuit against the individuals found responsible for an accident to recover medical expenses and other damages.
