Nationwide recall of Crunch Pak Apple Slices

Texas residents who have purchased Crunch Pak Apple Slices may want to ensure that products they have bought are not part of a recall before consuming them. According to the manufacturer, the apple slices are considered a defective product because they may contain Listeria monocytogenes. While no illnesses have been reported due to people consuming affected Crunch Pak Apple Slices, Listeria monocytogenes is an organism that can be dangerous to children, the elderly and pregnant women.

Healthy individuals may experience symptoms, such as high fevers, headaches, nausea and other digestive complaints, for a short duration. However, this organism can lead to severe or fatal infections for those with weakened immune systems. The product was voluntarily recalled by the manufacturer after a random test by the Minnesota Department of Agriculture of a 14 oz. package discovered the organisms. The FDA has been made aware of the issue and the recall.

Since Crunch Pak had already sold packages of the potentially dangerous products to retailers, the company is issuing a nationwide recall and contacting retailers directly about the problem. The company is advising retailers to remove the products from their shelves and to advise consumers that there is no replacement currently available. If someone has purchased the recalled product, they should not eat it and are advised to destroy it and to keep their purchase receipt.

If someone consumes Crunch Pak Apple Slices and are exposed to Listeria monocytogenes, they may end up with medical bills due to a hospital or doctor's office visit. Individuals who are harmed by defective or harmful products have legal recourse and the ability to pursue compensation from the manufacturer, even if the company voluntarily recalls the product and notifies the public.
