Perrigo recalls infant acetaminophen suspension liquid

Texas parents should be aware of a recent product recall of an acetaminophen infant suspension liquid in the 160mg, 5mL size, which is sold in 2 oz. and 4 oz bottles. The recall was issued by The Perrigo Company due to a potential defect with the oral syringe that is packaged with the liquid suspension bottles.

Parents should inspect this product closely to make sure that it comes with the correct syringe with a white or yellow plunger and has specific dose markings of 1.25 mL, 2.5 mL, 3.75 mL, and 5 mL. Products that have the correct dose markings may still be used according to the instructions as labeled. The defective product includes a syringe with no product markings on it.

According to Perrigo, there are no issues with the product itself and the only risk is associated with the unmarked syringe, which could result in an inaccurate dosing. There is a potential that infants may mistakenly receive too high of a dosage. Consumers are encouraged to contact their health care provider or physician if they have any concerns or have experienced a problem that may be related to the product.

Dangerous or defective medications could result in illness or injury from an overdose or other adverse reaction. A patient who has experienced an adverse health effect from a defective medication may be entitled to financial compensation.

It can be complicated and expensive to prove that a medication was the primary cause of a patient's illness or injury. Medical experts may be consulted to prove the plaintiff's case. A personal injury attorney may have the knowledge, resources and experience to provide experts who could interpret complex medical information for a judge or jury.
