1 dead, 1 injured in suspected drunk driving accident

A Texas car accident that resulted in the death of one woman was reported on April 13. The authorities stated that the crash took place on North Sam Houston Parkway in Houston at approximately 3:15 a.m. The driver who is believed to have caused the collision was ultimately charged with intoxicated assault with a vehicle and intoxicated manslaughter with a vehicle.

The local police stated that a Lexus sedan carrying four people was having hood trouble. The female driver pulled over to the shoulder of the road and turned the vehicle's hazard lights on. As the driver and a male passenger attempted to tie down the hood, they observed a white pickup truck coming towards them and tried to get the driver's attention. The pedestrians jumped out of the way, and the truck collided with the back of the stopped vehicle.

A 23-year-old female backseat passenger was ejected from the car and pronounced dead at the scene. The remaining passenger who was still in the sedan was transported to a nearby hospital after suffering serious injuries. The driver and the male passenger escaped injury. The 19-year-old driver of the truck was determined to be under the influence of alcohol and transported to Harris County Jail.

Car accidents that are caused by drunk drivers often result in serious injuries to those who are involved. If it is determined that a car crash was caused by an intoxicated driver, those who were injured may be eligible to file personal injury lawsuits against that driver. This could allow them to recover the costs of treatment for their injuries or compensation for their pain and suffering.
