Four killed in Texas car accident

A recent accident in Pasadena claimed the lives of four people and injured two more. Police in Pasadena say a taxi van collided with another vehicle after the other car crossed the centerline and drove into oncoming traffic. The auto accident occurred around 1:30 a.m. on April 19.

An officer was close to the accident scene when it occurred and described the sound of the accident as being similar to an explosion. He said that no fire occurred due to the accident but did say the damage caused was horrendous. Investigators believe the accident was caused by the driver of a Mazda Miata convertible who took a curve at speeds too high, lost control of the vehicle near East NASA Parkway and Lakeview Boulevard and smashed into the taxi. Alcohol may have played a role in causing the accident.

Both people in the car, believed to be in their early 20s, died in the collision. The family of four in the van intended to leave on a cruise from Galveston on the morning of April 19. Two passengers in the van's back seat died in the crash. Authorities airlifted the front passenger and driver of the taxi to a hospital with critical injuries.

The victims of this accident, which may include the family, the driver of the taxi and the family of the passenger in the convertible, may be able to seek compensation from the driver who caused the accident. Drivers who negligently cause a traffic accident may be legally responsible for compensating the victims of that accident for their damages. In this case, the victims and their families may have suffered damages that include wrongful death, medical expenses and lost pay. Compensation may allow them to recover from the crash with fewer concerns about the financial impact that the accident inflicted.
