Texas accident kills 1, injures 2

An accident in Texarkana left a 51-year-old man dead and injured two thers on March 31 on Highway 67. The accident occurred in front of Daniel's Used Tires. According to police reports, the man had been attempting to turn left into the parking lot for his job when a Chevy Equinox struck the rear of his car. This initial incident caused a chain reaction; the Equinox was then rear-ended by an ice cream truck, which pushed the cars into oncoming traffic.

Once the first car was pushed into the oncoming traffic, it was hit by another vehicle that was then hit by a pickup truck. At the time of the accident, the 51-year-old was traveling to work at a mechanic shop that rents space in the same building where the tire shop is located. The report indicated he had only been employed at the mechanic shop for two weeks. A resident of a house located near the accident ran to the aid of a woman who was in one of the vehicles involved.

The owner of the mechanic shop closed for the day because of the fatal accident. The tire shop's owner stated that car accidents have occurred there in the past. He feels there is a definite need for a turn lane. The crash is still under investigation.

When a fatal accident occurs, family members of the injured or deceased parties may want to know the cause of the accident in order for liability to be attributed. Speaking to a lawyer may help the injured parties and their families learn what options they have and whether they can file a wrongful death lawsuit against a negligent driver.
