Rule may require truckers to have more extensive training

If a rule that was proposed by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration is approved, Texas residents looking to become truck drivers may find that they will be required to undergo more training prior to receiving their license. The rule would require potential truck drivers to have at least 30 hours of behind-the-wheel training.

There are numerous automotive technologies in various stages of development, many offering Texas motorists the hope of improved driving safety. A joint announcement in September 2015 made by IIHS and NHTSA indicates an intent to require all vehicle models in the future to include autobrake systems, a technology that has been shown to be effective in reducing cases of rear-end accidents.
