Texas crash on Easter kills 3 people in Wilson County

Three people were killed in an accident on March 27 in Wilson County around 9:30 a.m. The crash happened on Highway 123 between Stockdale and Seguin near FM 426.

Troopers from the Texas Department of Public Safety said one of the drivers was driving south on the highway when he lost control of his vehicle and overcorrected. He then struck a truck that was traveling north on the Highway. He was killed in the crash along with his wife and the driver of the truck that was hit.

Two occupants of one of the vehicles were taken by life flight to the San Antonio Military Medical Center for treatment. Police said that both of the men were in critical condition. Law enforcement authorities also stated they are unsure of why the driver of the truck that was traveling south lost control. The Department of Public Safety was investigating the cause of the accident.

In a fatal motor vehicle crash, the driver who is responsible for causing the accident may be held to be responsible for the losses that the victim's surviving family members have suffered. When the negligent driver dies in the accident, a wrongful death lawsuit filed with the assistance of a personal injury attorney can name the at-fault motorist's estate as a defendant. The family's attorney can use the results of the official accident investigation report as well as other evidence such as eyewitness testimony in order to pinpoint responsibility for the accident. Damages that are sought in such a civil action can include funeral and interment expenses.
