Iraq war veteran among the dead in fatal Texas crash

A 35-year-old former Marine Corps veteran and a 47-year-old woman lost their lives during the early morning hours of July 16 when they were struck by a vehicle on Interstate 10 in Texas. The woman had been behind the wheel of an SUV that had lost control and crashed. The man had pulled over to offer the woman assistance. A second bystander that had pulled over to help was also struck, and he was transported to an area medical facility with what were described as life-threatening injuries.

Reductions in U.S. car crash fatalities lag behind other nations

A recent report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows that the per capita rate of car accident fatalities has gone down by 31 percent in Texas and throughout the U.S. between 2000 and 2013. Despite this progress, a CDC representative said that the country had a greater potential for safety improvements. When the CDC compared those statistics to 19 other high-income countries, the United States came in last place for the reduction of roadway deaths.

Investigators work to determine the cause of fatal Texas accident

A fatal fatal one-vehicle accident in San Antonio took place on the evening of July 3. The 81-year-old driver of a GMC Yukon SUV and an 85-year-old female passenger were both killed in the crash. Police say that alcohol consumption does not appear to have played a role. The accident took place on Loop 1604, near Highway 151 at approximately 7:00 p.m.

Tractor-trailer head-on collision in Texas kills 3

Accident investigators in Texas are trying to determine what occurred in the moments leading up to a head-on collision between two semi-tractor trailers in Rockwall County that claimed the lives of three men on June 29. A representative of the Rockwall County Sheriff's Office said that investigators had yet to determine which driver was responsible and what could have caused the crash. The accident took place on Interstate 30 between Fate and Royce City at approximately 5:00 a.m.
