Man killed by teen driver while standing by truck

A 32-year-old Texas man was killed as a result of the injuries that he sustained in a car accident on Sept. 22. The incident happened along New Sulphur Springs Road in San Antonio while he was standing outside of his truck. A teen driver in a red Mercury Cougar reportedly lost control and fatally struck the man. Like many other auto-pedestrian accidents, the victim had been dealing with vehicular problems before the crash.

When the northbound driver of the Mercury lost control of her car, she reportedly drifted onto the left shoulder of the road before returning to the road and sliding sideways into the victim. The man had been checking his trailer before he was pinned between the two vehicles. Emergency medical personnel took the man to the San Antonio Military Medical Center for treatment, but he died there shortly afterward.

Police began an investigation into the accident, but they did not release any information about why the Mercury driver failed to maintain her lane. The Mercury driver reportedly sustained serious injuries, and she was still being treated at SAMM-C the day after the accident. A friend of the deceased victim's family told reporters that the victim was the father of two girls, and he had a son on the way.

Fatal auto-pedestrian accidents are often caused by drivers who are impaired, distracted or otherwise negligent at the time. The surviving family members of someone who is killed in such a manner may want to have legal assistance when seeking compensation for their losses through a wrongful death lawsuit.
