Driver allegedly fell asleep at the wheel before fatal crash

One person died and two others were injured in a head-on collision that occurred in Texas on July 9. The incident took place near Graytown around 6 p.m. where County Road 126 and F.M. 2579 intersect. A sergeant with the Texas Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol said the crash happened after a 21-year-old male driving a Dodge Ram pickup southbound on F.M. 2579 fell asleep behind the wheel. The pickup truck veered into the northbound lanes and crashed into a Honda Pilot.

Victim of Texas DWI crash remembered at vigil

A gathering in northeastern Austin on June 14 included friends and family members of an area resident who was killed in an accident on June 10. The 44-year-old man was driving a truck at the time of the incident and was wearing a seat belt when a 27-year-old man reportedly ran a red light as his car traveled east on East Parmer Lane. The truck was T-boned, and the man was ejected in spite of his seat belt; he died at the scene of the accident. A five-year-old boy, the son of the car driver, was transported to an area hospital where he died from his injuries. An additional passenger suffered injuries but is reportedly recovering.

Two-car crash leaves one dead, one in jail

A 49-year-old woman in Texas was killed in a car crash near the Hobby Airport on May 25. The woman was driving north on I-45 at around 5:10 a.m. when her Ford Taurus was hit by a black Saab. The driver of the Saab had been heading north on the Gulf Freeway in another lane. Houston police have charged the driver of the Saab with intoxicated manslaughter.

Road rage believed to have caused Texas crash

As a result of a road-rage accident that caused the deaths of two 20-year-old men, a 21-year-old Wylie man was charged with accident involving injury and two counts of criminally negligent homicide. However, one of the deceased was also allegedly driving in a reckless manner, which may complicate any of the criminal proceedings.

Man facing DUI charges after fatal Texas accident

Police have detained a Texas man after a fatal crash that resulted in the death of a 54-year-old woman on April 27. The incident occurred near Lake Conroe on Texas 105 at about 1 a.m. when a 27-year-old man in a Dodge Ram ran a red light and struck a 2014 Mitsubishi Montero Sport carrying four people.

Texas accident kills 1, injures 2

An accident in Texarkana left a 51-year-old man dead and injured two thers on March 31 on Highway 67. The accident occurred in front of Daniel's Used Tires. According to police reports, the man had been attempting to turn left into the parking lot for his job when a Chevy Equinox struck the rear of his car. This initial incident caused a chain reaction; the Equinox was then rear-ended by an ice cream truck, which pushed the cars into oncoming traffic.

Widow files lawsuit against restaurant

The widow of a man who died after he ate chicken strips from a fast food restaurant in Texas on Nov. 27, 2012, has filed a civil lawsuit against the company. The wrongful death case stems from an incident when he purchased the chicken at a drive-through that evening and ate it. During the early morning hours of Nov. 28, she woke up because he was sick. He eventually was on the floor in excruciating pain. He was transported to the hospital where he was diagnosed with a bacterial infection. While there, he had a heart attack, but was resuscitated. He was released from the medical facility on Dec. 7 but returned twice for the same illness. On Dec. 12, he again collapsed in pain at home and was pronounced dead at the hospital. The cause of death was listed as a bacterial infection.
